"Our family farm is rooted in principles of ecological stewardship and social responsibility. Our farm produces high quality organic vegetables, grass fed meats and other farm products for our community. We believe that health must be built from the ground up. A healthy society must be based upon healthy people eating healthy food grown in healthy soil. Our whole farm plan aims to create a symbiotic system in which diverse plant, animal, and soil communities interact in a way that mimics natural processes. In step with our ecological principles, we prefer using human labor and ox power for fieldwork over fossil fuel driven tractors. In the future we hope to use horses as well. We feel that animal power is an appropriate level of mechanization for much of what we do. We grow many heirloom crop varieties and heritage breeds of livestock. We save our own seed from many varieties that we grow. We offer internships in organic and sustainable farming practices." - Crabapple Farm
